Single screw (double screw) extruder gearbox

Maintenance of the extruder gearbox 

The gearbox area of the twin-screw extruder should be well ventilated, and the working environment temperature should be within the range of 5-35℃. 

2. Regularly check the oil quantity of the gears in the box to ensure that all the transmission parts inside are well lubricated. 

3. Pay regular attention to inspecting all the bearing areas of the box. During operation, the oil temperature of the transmission box's oil tank should not exceed 70℃. 

After being put into use for 250 hours, the new gearbox needs to have its lubricating oil replaced. The frequency of oil replacement thereafter depends on the condition of the oil. It is recommended to replace the oil every 4,000 to 8,000 hours or once a year. 

The gearbox needs to undergo a regular maintenance check once a year (it is recommended to be carried out by professional maintenance engineers from Koya). The work contents are as follows: 

a. Remove the gearbox cover and inspect the working surfaces of each transmission reduction gear for wear and meshing conditions. If there are burrs or shallow scratches on the meshing surfaces, use an oilstone to smooth them out. For severely worn gears, prepare to purchase replacement parts for replacement during the next maintenance. 

b. Check the wear condition of each bearing. First, clean the bearings thoroughly and inspect whether there are any cracks on the inner and outer rings; observe the noise level during idle operation and the radial clearance. If no problems are found, add some lubricating grease and continue to use. 

c. Check whether the lubricating oil inside the box is clean. If there are impurities in the oil or a large amount of metal powder, filter and remove the impurities from the oil, and then replenish the oil quantity. 

d. After cleaning and inspecting the internal parts of the box, install the box cover; add sufficient lubricating grease to each bearing area, replace the new oil seals, and tighten the bearing covers. 

e. Clean the exterior of the gearbox and keep the equipment clean.
